Ende, Flores Indonesia Monday June 27, 2016.
After docking we departed for a city tour and visit to a
nearby village of Rada Ara and the Lionese people.
First we stopped at Bung Karno Museum which is the old house
occupied by Soekarno during his years of exile and house arrest by the Dutch.
He later became the first leader of the Indonesian peoples after the Japanese
were defeated and fled from Indonesia at the end of WWII
The big breadfruit tree near the football stadium in the
city was the place where Soekarno often sat under and worked on his political
ideas to lead Indonesia to independence.
The Pancisila Birth Monument now stands on the site. Pancisila (which means five principles) is now the
philosophy of the Indonesian state.
Our trip to Rada Ara village was a great experience, with
keen young school children and proud parents and grandparents making us most
welcome.
